I spend a lot of time discussing stress with my patients. Many people don't acknowledge that they have stress until you ask, and then suddenly the flood gates open. Another way of saying this is: The stress is hidden in the body and the patient is only partially aware of it. When stress (and accompanying emotions like shame and guilt) are not acknowledged and shared, they cause all sorts of problems in mind, body and spirit.
